These days everybody has a cell phone, and you’re going to find that they are just commonplace when it comes to everyday life. Whether it’s keeping in touch with business partners, clients, or anything of the like, you have to have a phone so that it’s as easy as can be to contact you, wherever you may be traveling. But you are also going to find that there are a ton of different types of phones out there, so how do you know which is the right one for you? This is the type of problem that so many people run into when they’ve never bought a phone before, as it can be hard to figure out the system for the first time.
That’s why when you’re going to buy cell phones, you have to know which factors are going to determine the right phone for you. This is where it’s more important about how you buy, than just where you buy. Getting a phone is as simple as just visiting a local mobile dealer, and signing up for a plan right there. But is that going to get you the right model? No, and usually you’re going to end up pretty disappointed as well. So here are 5 things that you want to think about, before you buy cell phones.
1) Which carrier is right for you?
This is not a simple question of do you like Verizon or AT&T more, but rather, which has the best coverage. Something that you’re going to find with cell phone companies, is that sometimes one or the other can have better overall coverage of where you live, based upon how the cell towers are actually allocated throughout the area. You want to go with the company with the most coverage, because that guarantees you have a strong signal everywhere you use your phone.
2) Which type of phone do you want to buy?
This is more a question of what do you want your phone to do. If you’re just looking for cheap cell phones, then you want something stripped down like a more basic type of flip phone. But if you’re all about the features, then you want to go with phones like the iPhone or a really nice HTC one, so that you can ensure they have all the capabilities of a computer, but in the palm of your hand.
3) Are you planning on traveling the world?
This should factor into your decision then, because the type of phone you buy can be good or bad in the sense of you wanting to be able to travel. Something that you’re going to find is that with phones that are GSM like those sold by AT&T, they will work throughout Europe so long as you have an international SIM card installed. But with CDMA phones, like those sold at Verizon Wireless, are more ideal for traveling places like Central America or Asia.
4) What type of plan are you looking for?
When you buy unlocked cell phones, you have the option of going to any provider that you want, so then you need to choose a provider that offers you the lowest price for the right plan. In most cases, you’re not going to find the lowest price at a company like Verizon or AT&T. But rather, you want to look to the lesser known entities or smaller companies like Cricket, or other more local types of services. They will give you all the features you could want, typically at a fraction of the price that unlimited plans would be from the major companies.
5) How much are you looking to spend?
Depending upon where you want to buy cell phones, or what types of phones you want to buy, you can end up paying a lot for them. When it comes to something like smart phones, you’re going to find that they can end up being really expensive, into the hundred dollar range. That’s why sometimes looking to buy used cell phones is a better idea, so that you can still get the same type of great cell phone, but at a much more affordable price as well. That’s going to get you the phone you need, without breaking the bank.
